Green River, UT - American Whitewater is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Green River Dam rehabilitation project. The restoration of the last major in-stream barrier to fish and paddlers between Flaming Gorge and the confluence with the Colorado River is a win for all involved: it will now have safe boat passage, along with maintaining fish passage and the agricultural importance of the dam.

AW would like to thank our partners for supporting efforts to improve public safety and navigability the Green River, reconnecting habitat for fish and wildlife, and honoring the historical and agricultural significance of the site. AW also invites paddlers to attend the media event that features the project on May 11, 2016, as our local, state, and federal partners all gather to witness the historic unveiling.

More details about the event can be found here.

It's worth noting that paddlers did not have to pay for the improvements to the diversion, despite continued requests that "boaters pay their share" from some stakeholders.

We want to thank the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Utah for their leadership on the project. The collaborative process that they administered insured that needs from a variety of stakeholder groups were met, and thanks to them, this project will serve recreation, conservation and agricultural interests for decades to come. Join us in thanking them by signing our thank-you letter and sending a thank-you message on Twitter:
