Action Alert! Last Chance to Comment on the Colorado Water Plan!
Colorado's Water Plan has been a multi-year effort to study, and plan for, the water demands of our cities, farms, and rivers for the next 50 years. The Plan has been out for public comment since July, and we are quickly approaching the last day to provide input before the Plan is finalized.
The FINAL deadline to comment is September 17. Please click the email link to send your comments. Take Action TODAY!
The current draft Water Plan contains many priorities that Coloradans have overwhelmingly
supported—including healthy rivers and recreation. American Whitewater has worked for many
years to help the planning effort adequatly define flows that must be protected for recreation
and river health. Now, we need your help to ensure that these priorities remain in the Plan, and
that a series of Critical Actions is included to help make a real change in our State. Even if
you have commented before, we need your help for our water plan to finish strong!
American Whitewater has reviewed the latest draft Plan, and is recommending specific additions to
the Final draft that range from changes to current State programs, to new legislation. We
have also drafted an easy to use comment letter that you can send to the Colorado Water
Conservation Board to support these same additions. To send your comment letter, just click on
the email here:cowaterplan@state.co.us
Send the sample letter as is, or personalize it with your own words about why Colorado's rivers are important to you.
Adding a sentence or two to the beginning of the letter will help make it stand out, and can be as simple as ideintifying what River Basin you live in, or relating a personal story of how you have enjoyed one of Colorado's rivers or why you value protecting river-recreation.
