AW Announces New Dolores River Program Staff!
Colorado - In order to advance our goals in the Dolores basin, American Whitewater has hired a Dolores River Stewardship Assistant.
We are happy to announce that Jay Lochert has joined our stewardship team! Welcome Jay!
Jay will be working closely with AW's Colorado Program Director and our partners at the San Juan Citizens Alliance in Cortez, Colorado. In his role at AW, Jay will serve as a local advocate for whitewater paddling interests, and work to improve the coordination among paddlers, as well as environmental and recreational stakeholders in the Dolores River basin. He will be focused on advancing the goals we share with The Nature Conservancy, the Colorado Division of Wildlife, and the Dolores River Dialogue.
Jay is a long-time local in the Dolores area, and
is intimately connected to the River. Jay recognizes that the current water management situation
has literally and figuratively left boaters high and dry, and is ready to add to the good work
being done to improve it.
He brings to AW passion and commitment to our goals, and joins our team at a critical time when
we are heavily engaged in improving streamflows for native fish, and whitewater
boaters.
