BLM has recently identified the Upper Colorado River as eligible for Wild and Scenic River status, which must be designated by Congress. This eligible rating immediately gives the river some level of interim protection. BLM must now manage and maintain the Outstandingly Remarkable Values identified in the plan which is available on line at

The Kremmling and Glenwood Springs BLM Field Offices are beginning the process of the Resource Management Plan Revision which will guide what we do on public lands for the next 20 years. This process includes the Suitability Study for the wild and scenic rivers.
The public is encouraged to participate in this process and your comments regarding the suitability of the Upper Colorado River is a critical component of this process. The Scoping Information Packets and maps are available on the web site. At the back of the Scoping Information Packets there is a comment form. The May 2nd due date for public comment has been extended.
